Dr. Lisa Hewitt
Hi there! My name is Dr. Lisa Hewitt, and I am a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). I earned my Ph.D. in 2008 from Texas A&M University in School Psychology. Since then, I have spent the majority of my time working in public schools in the Fort Worth area as well as in Central Texas. I have many years of training and experience evaluating children and young adults for special education eligibility in areas such as autism, emotional disturbance, learning disabilities, ADHD, and intellectual disability, as well as completing functional behavioral assessments. I am fluent in Spanish and I am trained and experienced in completing bilingual evaluations. I have also provided school-based counseling services for students whose mental health challenges get in the way of their school success. I love getting the opportunity to really study students’ strengths as well as their needs, and working with families and school professionals to plan and intervene to help them reach their potential. My school experiences have given me the opportunity to work collaboratively with a variety of community providers and agencies. I also have experience completing evaluations in the Giddings State School and for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (MHIDD).
In addition to working directly with students and families, I have extensive experience providing supervision and training to other school psychologists and psychology students. I have supervised and mentored many LSSPs, Educational Diagnosticians, and Licensed Professional Counselors over the past several years, as well as more than a dozen school psychology interns, doctoral fellows, and practicum students. I have recently begun teaching graduate-level school psychology courses on an adjunct basis at Texas State University and Texas A&M University.
